Nationalists attack Orangemen in Ballymena

There was trouble in Ballymena tonight as Orangemen returned to the town from their Twelfth of July marches.

A group of around 60 nationalists attacked police with petrol bombs and stones.

SDLP councillor Declan O’Loan said that it had been a well-organised operation.

‘‘Local people said most of the crowd were outsiders that were brought in and local Sinn Fein activists were involved in organising the crowds.’’
