Commission rejects request for parades review
The North’s Parades Commission has rejected a Sinn Fein request to review its decision to allow two contentious Orange Order marches to enter nationalist areas of Belfast tomorrow.
The commission said Sinn Fein failed to provide enough new evidence to justify a review of the parades, which are due to pass through nationalist parts of Springfield Road and Ardoyne Road.
In a statement, it also called on both nationalists and unionists to show restraint during the marches tomorrow.
“The Parades Commission hopes that over the next two days, those parading and their supporters will show respect to their host communities and that those communities will demonstrate tolerance and respect of the tradition of the parades,” the statement said.
