Empey says violence threatens NI call-centre
The North’s Enterprise Minister, Reg Empey, has warned that violence in north Belfast could threaten the viability of a US-owned call-centre which employs 300 people in the area.
The TeleTech facility in Duncairn Gardens has been forced to suspend operations twice because of sectarian clashes.
It was established in August 2000 and has set an employment target of 1,000 for the coming years.
Mr Empey has written to local politicians in north Belfast seeking their help in ending the violence for the sake of the local economy.
