McAleese attacked for Nice comments

Opposition parties are hitting out at comments on the Nice Treaty referendum made by the President Mary McAleese during her official trip to Greece.

Mrs McAleese stated during the trip that the treaty is "pivotal" to enlargement. The comments have caused outrage among the anti-Nice parties, with the Green Party calling on Mrs McAleese to "butt out" of the debate.
