Accident victims named

The victims of last night's road accidents in counties Louth and Monaghan have been named.

The victims of last night's road accidents in counties Louth and Monaghan have been named.

They were Tara Heaney, aged 30, and her sister Chery, aged 17, from Sixmilecross, Co Tyrone. They were killed instantly when their car struck another head-on in Monasterboice, Co Louth.

They were heading towards Drogheda when the crash occurred. The occupants of the second car, who are two members of Dundalk's fire brigade, were seriously injured and taken to hospital in Drogheda.

Earlier 84-year-old Bridget Brodigan and her 80-year-old brother Anthony died as they were struck by a tanker as they crossed the road in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan.

The two had been both living in Kingscourt, Co Cavan.
