Brother and sister killed in road accident

Two pedestrians have died after being hit by a truck in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, this afternoon.

The accident happened on Farney Street shortly after 4pm.

The two victims, believed to be a brother and sister in their 80s, have not yet been named.

The accident brings the death toll on Ireland’s roads so far this year to 199.
