The Government has come under fire over the FAI-Sky deal.

Following revelations that coverage of Irish international football matches at home will be given over to Sky, the opposition is attacking the government.

This follows the announcement by the Minister for Communications that safeguard measures are being planned so that Irish sporting events will only be shown on terrestial television.

However, Fine Gael’s John Cushnahan insists that a late attempt to solve the situation only adds insult to injury.

He says that the Government promised to safeguard coverage of Irish sports events before but failed to do so.
