May was worst in 20 years

Reports from weather stations around the country have revealed that May of this year was the wettest in 20 years.

May weather records usually are the driest of the year.

Nonetheless, this year May was wetter than December.

The observatory at Valencia, Co Kerry, registered its wettest since records began 60 years ago.

However, Met Eireann have stated that with two months left of the summer, recordings may well change for the better.
