Complaints against doctors have become more serious according to the Irish Medical Council.

In 2001, a total of 337 complaints were registered against doctors. According to the latest edition of the Irish Medical Times almost 50% of the complaints concerned treatment and professional standards, around 50 concerned professional standards while 48 related to standard of treatment.
