US ambassador invites 2,500 to party
The US Ambassador in Ireland has invited around 2,500 people to his residence in the Phoenix Park to celebrate the July 4, the US Independence Day.
The event was organised to show gratitude for the support Ireland gave following last year’s attacks on New York and Washington.
US Ambassador Richard Egan said he was overwhelmed by the number of people who expressed their sympathy after the September 11 attacks.
