Irish soldiers and gardaí stationed in Bosnia have been ordered to stand down at 6am tomorrow if the United Nations fails to renew the mandate for its peacekeeping mission.

The US has used its veto to prevent an extension of the mission in protest at the establishment of the International Criminal Court in the Netherlands.
