McDowell names judge for Carthy tribunal

Michael McDowell has appointed Justice Robert Barr as the sole member of a tribunal of inquiry into the fatal shooting of John Carthy at Abbeylara, Co Longford.

The Minister for Justice appointed the justice for the tribunal today. Under the agreement made, the tribunal will report to the clerk of the Dail with progress updates regularly. This process has been decided under the Oireachtas resolution.
