Board of Gaelscoil fails to reach agreement
Today’s meeting of the Board of Management of Dunboyne Gaelscoil has ended without a decision being reached on what action should be taken with the suspended principal of the school, Tomás O’Dulaing.
The Board of the multi-denominational school were to meet to discuss the future of Mr O’Dulaing who was suspended over a row surrounding the education of Catholic pupils in the run up to their First Holy Communion.
Mr O’Dulaing had wanted to prepare the pupils after school hours rather than separate Catholic and Protestant classmates during the school day but the Board insisted that it should be taught as part of the curriculum and suspended Mr O’Dulaing after he refused to do so.
The case has attracted a large amount of media attention and will now drag on for a further unspecified length of time after the Board failed to reach an agreement today.
