The Dublin Airport Workers Network has called an emergency meeting following the suspension of a CityJet shop steward yesterday.

The union official was suspended while organising a ballot of baggage handlers on plans for industrial action over pay.

The Dublin Airport Workers Network called today’s emergency talks to discuss the possibility of strike action over the weekend if the shop steward is not immediately reinstated.

Spokesperson Clare Daly said the company has directly breached the Industrial Relations Act by suspending the official.

The CityJet workers are also meeting today to discuss the situation.
