The Ulster Unionist leader, David Trimble, is calling on the British prime minister, Tony Blair, to rewrite the Good Friday Agreement to make Sinn Fein ineligible for inclusion in government.

Mr Trimble said today that Mr Blair promised four years ago that he would amend the agreement if its rules did not allow for the exclusion of political parties linked to paramilitary groups and it was now time for him to deliver.
