Solicitor Pat Finucane would be alive today if members of the Royal Ulster Constabulary had not encouraged loyalists to shoot him, a top loyalist has claimed.

Ken Barrett, a loyalist paramilitary questioned about Mr Finucane’s murder in Belfast, said a policeman urged him at a secret rendezvous to gun the lawyer down.
