Man charged with sexual assault at District Court

A man has appeared at a sitting of the District Court in Mullingar charged with sexually assaulting and falsely imprisoning a 10-year-old girl in Kilbeggan on Tuesday night.

The 34-year-old single man from Tullamore, who cannot be named after an order by the judge, has been remanded in custody to appear at Tullamore District Court on June 19.

At this morning's hearing an application was made by Supt Padraig Rhatigan that the identity of the alleged victim would not be revealed by the media.
