Reid rejects criticisms on violence

Northern Ireland Secretary Dr John Reid is rejecting statements claiming that his administration is ignoring the spiralling levels of violence in the North.

Northern Ireland Secretary Dr John Reid is rejecting statements claiming that his administration is ignoring the spiralling levels of violence in the North.

Speaking during a visit to the Shankill Road, Dr Reid said that Northern Ireland had come a long way, and had further still to go.

He said that people should not lose sight of the accomplishments of the last few years, but that a "halfway house" between terrorism and politics will not be tolerated.
