Ahern says EU fishing plans 'unacceptable'
Minister for Communications and Natural Resources, Dermot Ahern, has described the EU’s plan to remove 90% of Irish deepwater fishing quotas as unacceptable.
Minister Ahern is attending the meeting in Brussels this morning, where the majority of fishing rights withdrawn from other countries, including Ireland, are expected to be passed over to France and Spain.
Irish fishermen have also accused the EU Commission on Fisheries of trying to destroy the Irish Fisheries Industry.
