One of the largest and most important hospitals in the country, the Mater Hospital, has announced that it may be forced to cancel or postpone up to 2,000 operations as a result of a lack of finances.

Despite the Government’s promise to provide increased funding for the healthcare sector the opposition parties say that more needs to be done to ensure that the money reaches the sectors that needed it most.
