Unions to attempt to avert RTE strike
Last minute attempts are being made to secure coverage of the Republic of Ireland’s end of group game against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.
Outside broadcast units are threatening to strike next week and have so far rejected any deal with RTE.
Unions are due to meet after the weekend to discuss the situation.
The emergency talks will involve both SIPTU and the TEEU unions.
Home supporters may only be able to watch the important game on Tuesday on satellite channels if the national broadcaster cannot negotiate a deal.
Last week Unions rejected a proposal to work with the Industrial Relations Tribunal to try and solve the problem with RTE.
