A body found beside a bridge on the River Shannon was tonight confirmed as that of 16-year-old Victor O’Connor, one of two teenager missing after falling into the water while walking with friends.

A body found beside a bridge on the River Shannon was tonight confirmed as that of 16-year-old Victor O’Connor, one of two teenager missing after falling into the water while walking with friends.

Victor was swept away in the fast flowing river when he tried to help Lynsey Kiely, also 16, when she slipped into the water.

Both came from the Moyross district of Limerick city.

Searching for Lynsey was continuing tonight.
