SF to formulate approach to new Dail

Sinn Fein’s five TDs are due to meet in Dublin later today to formulate their approach to the new Dail.

The party has not ruled out forming a coalition with Fianna Fail, but no approaches have been made.

Before the election, Fianna Fail said it would not enter Government with Sinn Fein because of its links to the IRA, comments that angered the republican party’s newly elected TD, Aengus O’Snodaigh.

"We will be seeking a meeting with all of the political parties, trying to see exactly which way the Dail is going to work out," said O'Snodaigh.

"The party leadership in Fianna Fail seems to be of the opinion that our mandate is different from everybody else’s mandate, despite the fact that the public voted for us."
