The European Union is due to begin an investigation into alleged rip-offs by retailers during the changeover to the euro at the beginning of this year.

The European Union is due to begin an investigation into alleged rip-offs by retailers during the changeover to the euro at the beginning of this year.

The move follows an EU survey which found that consumer complaints following the introduction of the euro are largely justified, with large price increases recorded in many areas, particularly in restaurants and cafes.
