Fine Gael favourite denied Mayo seat

Counting in Mayo has been adjourned for the night.

The only candidate to be elected in the constituency to date is Michael Ring from Fine Gael.

However, there was great disappointment for the party with Jim Higgins not securing a seat for the next Dail.

Counting will go on tomorrow morning with Fianna Fail’s Beverly Cooper-Flynn and Fine Gael’s Enda Kenny being tipped as favourites to win seats.
