Mitchell denies leadership rumour

Gay Mitchell has denied rumours that he is in line to take over as leader of Fine Gael, following Michael Noonan's announcement that he is to resign from the role.

Dep Mitchell kept his place in Dublin South Central.

The counting of votes in the constituency is continuing and expected to finish within the hour.
