Jacob is topping the poll so far in Wicklow

The first result is expected in Co Wicklow just after lunchtime.

Two hours into the count, the figures are showing Minister of State Joe Jacob topping the poll so far, with 18%.

Next is Fine Gael’s Billy Timmons on 16%, Fianna Fail’s Dick Roche is on 15% and Labour’s Liz McManus is on just over 14%.

Although it is early days, the big surprise is the low count for Labour’s big hopeful Nicky Kelly, who is so far coming in at 4%.

The first seat is expected to be announced at around 2pm today.
