Labour confident of increasing Dáil numbers
The Labour Party has expressed confidence that it can increase its showing in the Dáil in this Friday’s election.
Party leader Ruairi Quinn refused to predict the outcome of the election, but said he is sure Labour can make substantial gains.
"I’m not going to put numbers on it, because by putting numbers on it you sort of exclude people’s prospects," he said.
"I do think that, in Dublin, we’re going to achieve our objective of having a TD in every constituency and, in a number of constituencies, we’re going to have two TDs elected.
"Niamh Breathnach is certainly going to be one of them and I believe Mary Upton and Eric Byrne will win two seats in Dublin south-central."
