Labour slams 'unrealistic' FG pledges

The Labour Party has claimed that Fine Gael will not be able to fund its election promises if it is elected to power this Friday.

Despite the fact that both parties are potential coalition partners, Labour TD Derek McDowell said Fine Gael will not be able to honour its election pledges.

"They have no prospect of being able to fund what they propose to do, based on economic figures," he said.

Mr McDowell also said Fine Gael appears to have no priorities for Government.

"I think if you look at the Fine Gael manifesto, it’s a very lengthy wish-list, but I’m not sure you could say it’s a list of priorities," he said.
