Carthy inquiry to explain lateness of document

The Court of Criminal Appeal will be given an explanation today as to why a document in the possession of the Carthy inquiry was only disclosed last Friday.

The document confirms the Carthy team is aware of an allegation that a detective garda had admitted telling lies in a criminal trial in 1995.

Former Donegal nightclub owner Frank Short, who served three years for drugs offences, is submitting a declaration that he was a victim of a miscarriage of justice.
