Irish siege woman set to be deported from Israel

The Cork woman who was among 10 aid workers arrested at the end of the Church of the Nativity siege in Bethlehem is expected to be deported home soon.

Mary Kelly is a member of the Cork Peace Alliance. She contacted them this morning to say she was safe and well, but she was unable to name her location.

Joe Moore from the Cork Peace Alliance, who spoke to her, says he expects she’ll be sent home soon.

"At the moment she is definitely in custody, as to where we're not sure. She had the impression last Friday that she was being taken to Tel Aviv but we're not sure about the destination."

"It appears at this stage that she will be deported by the Israelis," he said.
