Family home of Minister destroyed by fire

The family home of the Minister for Science Technology and Commerce, Noel Treacy, has been gutted by fire.

Two units of the Fire Brigade were called to the scene in the village of Clough near Athenry in Co Galway earlier today.

The Minister’s sister, who lives alone in the house, escaped without injury.

It is not known what caused the blaze.
