16-year-old arrested after girl's death
Gardaí have arrested a youth in Limerick after the death of a girl in a hit-and-run last night.
A 17-year-old girl died after she was struck by a stolen car last night in the city.
The arrested 16-year-old was detained on the southside of the city. He can be held for up to 12 hours under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act.
Tania Noonan, originally from Moyross in Limerick, was dead on arrival at Limerick hospital after the stolen vehicle struck her.
Her male friend was also knocked down and remains in hospital in a non-life threatening condition.
