Quinn takes election campaign to Co Donegal

Labour Party leader Ruairi Quinn will today take his election campaign to Co Donegal, where he is expected to focus on environmental and rural development issues.

Mr Quinn is expected to listen to local complaints about intensive fish farming on Lough Swilly during his visit to the constituency.

Speaking in Co Wicklow yesterday, the Labour leader said his party’s infrastructure policy will reconnect remote northern areas with the rest of Ireland.

“We’re the only party that’s committed to a department of infrastructure that will reconnect Donegal with the rest of the country,” he said.

“The Good Friday Agreement gives us now the opportunity to turn places that previously had become cul de sacs and backwaters into part of an integrated island infrastructure.”

Mr Quinn is also expected to highlight Labour’s health policy during a visit to Letterkenny General Hospital.

One of Labour’s key election pledges is to increase spending on health and end the two-tier health system which divides private and public patients.
