The Green Party has defended its policies on agriculture after the Irish Farmers' Association accused it of proposing to break up the Department of Agriculture.

The IFA also slammed the Greens’ plans to abandon intensive farming in favour of smaller holdings and said that the Green Party cannot be trusted to look after the interests of Irish farmers.
