Farmers mount protest against milk price cut

Milk suppliers for Dublin and surrounding counties are under threat from farmers who have mounted a protest at the Glanbia Plant in Dublin.

They are protesting at a price cut of 9% in the gallon of milk imposed by Glanbia.

Up to 50 farmers are blocking supplies in and out of the plant.

Almost 1500 farmers supply milk to Glanbia.

The chairman of the Fresh Milk Producer Group, Eamonn Bray, says Glanbia's imposed price cut will be resisted.

"We had a very good proposal on the table that would have solved the problem, they decided to go to the board of Glanbia and impose this 9% rise when the market for liquid milk is very good".
