Man charged with Cork city stabbing

A man has been charged with the murder of Nicola Sweeney at her home in Rochestown, Cork last night.

The 20-year-old was found stabbed to death after her friend,19-year-old Sinead O'Leary, raised the alarm.

Peter Whelan, also 19, from Ashgrove in Rochestown was tonight brought before a special sitting of Cork Destrict Court.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Cork district court tommorrow.
