Police in Belfast today appealed for a woman wearing bloodstained clothes to help them establish how a man in the university area received serious head injuries.

Police in Belfast today appealed for a woman wearing bloodstained clothes to help them establish how a man in the university area received serious head injuries.

The 21-year-old was discovered in Eblana Street, off University Street at around 2.15am. he had suffered a fractured skull and a cut to the back of the head.

He was said to be in a serious position in hospital.

Detectives at Musgrave Street police station were anxious to trace the woman who was with a group of people in the area and was spotted wearing a bloodstained short-sleeved white top.

They have asked her to help the investigation and for anyone else who may have seen anything suspicious to come forward.
