The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has named Friday May 17th as the date for the upcoming general election.

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has named Friday May 17th as the date for the upcoming general election.

Mr Ahern said that date was chosen to allow students and people living away from home the chance to cast their votes.
