A garda is recovering in hospital after being knocked down this morning.

The Garda was directing traffic on the North Ring in Cork when the accident occurred.

A car pulled out from a nearby petrol station and struck the garda.

The officer is recovering in Cork University hospital with a broken pelvis and shoulder.

There have been no arrests in relation to the incident.
