The Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation is carrying out an internal inquiry after almost €1m in fines went missing.

The missing €1m is made up mostly of on-the-spot fines paid by members of the public for speeding and parking offences. It is believed that it is civilian employees of the gardai who are under investigation.
