SF promises 70% reduction in housing lists
Sinn Féin has promised to house 70% of those on local housing waiting lists within two years if it is elected to Government.
Sinn Féin said it would fund this policy by increasing capital gains tax for owners of multiple dwellings.
It also vowed to tighten rent controls in an effort to control the spiralling cost of rented accommodation.
The party’s single serving TD, Caoimhghin O’Caolain, said: "What is absent is the political will to address it. We’re looking at a figure in excess of €1,000m being allocated for the local authority housing building programme."
