Dana confirms intention to contest election

MEP Rosemary ‘Dana’ Scallon has confirmed that she will contest the upcoming general election as an independent candidate in Galway west.

The former Eurovision Song Contest winner denied that her decision to run was affected by the resignation of Junior Minister Bobby Molloy last week and also said she is willing to work with any of the main political parties.

"I will work with any politicians or grouping that will sincerely put the people’s needs above party interests or personal interests," she said.
