Dublin bar workers' union threatens strike
Bar workers in Dublin are threatening to go on strike.
The trade union Mandate said it is planning to ballot its members after the Licensed Vintners Association said it would not recognise unions on pay-related matters.
The LVA, which represents only Dublin publicans, said it prefers to talk to staff on an individual basis.
Mandate said the "arrogance" of the LVA is "breath-taking" and said it flies in the face of partnership agreements, particularly at a time when publicans have made huge profits during the economic boom.
