Gardaí name Portmarnock victim

Gardaí have released the name of the man who was killed in Portmarnock this morning.

He was 21-year-old Peter Joyce from Setticairn in Tallaght, Co Dublin.

Mr Joyce was killed after he was assaulted and beaten in the car park of the local Naomh Mearnog GAA club at about 2am. He was removed to Beaumont Hospital where he later died.

State Pathologist Dr John Haribson is to carry out a post mortem on the body later today.

A 23-year-old man is being questioned in relation to the incident and is scheduled to appear before a special sitting of Dublin District Court today.
