Elderly climber airlifted in Co Wicklow

A man has been airlifted to hospital after he was taken ill in the Wicklow Mountains.

A man has been airlifted to hospital after he was taken ill in the Wicklow Mountains.

The 66-year-old, who was rock climbing in Luggala, is believed to have suffered a heart attack.

Rescue teams from the Glen of Imall, and Dublin and Wicklow Mountains went to the scene, and an Irish coastguard rescue helicopter was dispatched for the airlift.

The man was taken to Tallaght Hospital in Dublin.
