Youths held over scooter hit-and-run

Two youths were tonight arrested in connection with a hit-and-run accident in which an 11-year-old girl was critically injured.

They were being questioned by police, who seized a motorised scooter believed to have been involved in the accident.

The schoolgirl was between the cinema and football pitches in Lisburn, Co Antrim when the crash happened.

Witnesses said the rider then fled in the direction of Longstone Street.
