Girl, 11, critical after hit-and-run

An 11-year-old girl was tonight critically ill in hospital following a hit-and-run accident involving a motorised scooter in Co Antrim.

Police said they were hunting a youth aged around 16 who was riding the vehicle when the accident happened.

The schoolgirl was between the cinema and football pitches in Lisburn, Co Antrim when the crash happened.

Witnesses said the driver then fled in the direction of Longstone Street.
