Gardai continue probe into 'suspicious' fire

Gardai are continuing to investigate the cause of a fire at a flat in Dublin yesterday morning which left a man and a woman dead.

Post mortem results showed that 51-year-old Joseph Burke and 23-year-old Catherine Dunne died from smoke inhalation, but a strong smell of petrol was detected at the scene and Gardai are still treating the blaze as suspicious.

The fire broke out in the flat above a shop on the South Circular Road in Dolphin’s Barn. Gardai also confirmed today that a gun found in the flat was a replica.
