Fine Gael leader Michael Noonan has pledged to establish a waste management agency if his party is elected to the Government in the upcoming general election.

Speaking in Cork, Mr Noonan said such an agency could bring an end to the situation whereby Ireland disposes of 90% of its waste in landfill sites.
